WHY THIS WEEK DIDN'T SUCK

This week altogether hasn't been terrible.
Aside from Thursday's little suicide-watch-festival, honestly, we can say that with the team we've got we put on a good show.
But here are five little things to keep in mind:

1.) Our franchise considers this to be front-page news. I mean really, regardless of the standings, don't you just fucking love this team?

2.) Time heals all wounds. The troops are returning. Notably, Gonchar and Orpik are back in business.
Our defensive corps will eventually mend.
We have Max back. Say what you will about Max--he did win us a Stanley Cup and is at the very least a center/winger you can move around wherever you need him. Depth, kids. DEPTH.

3.) We're tops in the Atlantic again. Next mission, prevent the Caps from winning the East. Shouldn't be hard.

4.) Anze Kopitar still leading the league in points. And while we'd rather it be someone from Pittsburgh, at least you're not going to read any NHL.com pseudojournalism about whether or not he's the best player in the league. He's doing it the way it's meant to be done.

5.) The President is back at practice, and according to an anonymous source, the locker room is preparing for his return by listening to a collection of Foreigner's greatest hits. No, not even kidding.

We want to know what love is.

GO PENS.

I. Love. This. Team. Hopefully at this rate Mr. President, LeUnicorn, and Cappy's new wing man aka Kuny will be back by the weekend, since I'll be there Friday AND Saturday, although I'll totally be okay with just the President. . .for now

I about hit the floor laughing when I saw the story about Lovejoy yesterday evening. My mom was like "Megan, what's so funny?" I didn't answer because she's starting to accuse me that I watch too much hockey. Oh and I love how they make it sound like he's Pee Wee Herman lol.

For once in my life, I can say that I don't want to be in their locker room at least for tonight. Now don't get me wrong, I <3 Mr. President. If Foreigner is really his favorite band, that's fine. I'm not going to be a total music snob and tell him that they suck, but if I was in the room when that greatest hits cd starts playing, I would have to leave the room. It's hard to dig Foreigner when you've been listening to "The Only Band That Matters" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIx7k2gYT1I

Hey, I was just wondering how I can follow your blog, I didn't see an option on the side...

@EHisCDN - Go to your Dashboard on Blogger, and go down to "Reading List." Underneath that frame you should see blue buttons that say "Add" and "Manage." Click the "Add" button. A box should appear. Select "Add from URL" and paste http://www.puckhuffers.com into the field. Then hit "Next." Congrats, you're following Puck Huffers, be sure to schedule regular mental health checkups.

Ok, so Georges Laraque gets a one week suspension for a knee-on-knee hit to Niklas Kronwall. Kronwall has a sprained ligament. Sounds like the same thing Ovechkin did to Gonch during the playoffs and yet AO got nothing more than a friendly little slap on the fanny from the NHL. I'm ready to start CHEWING CEMENT over this so I just had to get that off my chest.

MR. PRESIDENT . . . get that cute little turned up nose back in the lineup! It's time!

I just know that once Tanger and Kuni see him back out there having fun they'll want to play too. And then Gogo will say, "Hey! Wait for me guys!" and then Cupcake will just chop off that bad finger, slap a SuperMan bandage over the hole and he'll be back too.

Let's Doit Pens!!!!!!

i just sat here and listened to a good minute and a half of that song..is it bad that i can totally picture them just sitting in the locker room all solemn and depressed with candles all around TK's locker?

I love the bit about the Pens' punishments for losing at shootouts! Can't believe they took a chance like that with all the injuries they've been having, though. Maybe other teams are as fun as ours, but I seriously doubt it.

I think the Pens edged out the Caps as the Beasts of the East after tonight. Yay!

@ Need Ice: The double and triple standards for suspensions are absolute bullshit. I swear, I like NHL hockey despite its executives, not at all because of them. If the NHL execs and NASCAR's execs got together, you'd have, like, a perfect storm of dangerous stupidity.

@ ANovak: That will now be the mental image I go to bed with, thank you.

No cocktails tonight. I had warm ginger tea with honey and lemon to keep a cold from getting worse. I think some of the guys probably needed something like that, too. However, I made my pie fillings for Thanksgiving tonight, and I know my maple-raisin-walnut pie is gonna be *clutch*.

@CrackerLilo - I think the Blackhawks are like the Pens in that they have a team full of crackheads having the time of their lives.

If you like the Blackhawks or naked hockey player shenanigans, watch this vid!

I was telling Ashferddd that if the Pens ever did anything like that, I would die of happiness.

@Annie S

Thanks for the link to the naked hockey players video. Always appreciated even if it was totally G-rated.

And you KNOW our boys are doing the same stuff to each other and probably some "not so G rated" stuff too. The least the Pens organization could do is give us more shirtless-interview shots from the dressing room.

Is that really asking too much??!

@Annie S. - Thank you for sharing that video. I definitely think that the Blackhawks are total potheads, not crackheads. Why else would Sharp order all this stuff from room service as a prank? lol.

@Need Ice In Phoenix - Of course our guys do some pretty badass pranks. However, it should be said that they know better enough not to videotape it ;)

To the PH staff, there should be a special posting sometime that's a solute to the best pranksters on the team. Maybe of all time, even? I'll be more than happy to help with the research!

If you're going to drunk blog during the day, at least use the spell checker.

LOLOLOLOL!

@Needs Ice in Phoenix - No drunk blogging at all. You just wish it was haha. It was more like tired blogging. I went to bed late last night and got up early. All I've done today has been cleaning house and trying to get ready for the holiday. I was in a hurry and forgot to edit. When I realized what I did, I tried erasing the comment and it wouldn't let me, so I figured post a correction. I blame my training as a journalist for making me so obsessive.
